The SGS Ayurvedic Hospital runs regular out-patient services everyday. Consultation and counselling are given free of cost to the patients. The Hospital has in-patient facility which offers Panchakarma and other Ayurvedic treatments to patients suffering from chronic ailments.

The Ayurvedic inpatient department, consisting of 6 special rooms and  male & female general wards with attached treatment rooms, cater to the needs of admitted patients.  `Pathya’ diet is provided to the inpatients.

Specialized Ayurvedic Panchakarma treatments, designed to purify the body, are given to inpatients as well as outpatients for many chronic ailments like Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoarthritis, Spondylosis, Asthma, Allergic Rhinitis, Sinusitis, Migraine, Psoriasis, Eczema, Hemorrhoids, Diabetic Neuropathy, Parkinsonism, Paralysis,  Frozen Shoulder,  Sciatica, Diabetic Retinopathy, Peripheral Neuritis, Allergic Bronchitis, etc.

The Centre also conducts a number of other therapeutic procedures like, Shirodhara, Shashtika Shalipinda Sweda, Patrapinda Sweda, Abhyanga, Katibasti, Shirobasti, Kayaseka, Bashpa Sweda, Avagaha, Udvartana etc., tailored to the needs of the individual patient.   The benefits of such treatment are long-lasting and are especially useful in treating chronic ailments.

Panchakarma

Rebalance your Body, Mind, and Spirit!

Panchakarma is known as the cornerstone of the Ayurveda treatment system essentially stabilizes the intrinsic balance of tridoshas in one’s body.  Panchakarma package includes treatments like Vamana (emesis), Virechana (purgation), Niruha Basti (medicated decoction enema), Anuvasana Basti (medicated oil enema), & Nasya (nasal administration).

These therapies cleanse the body of toxins to improve functions and are an excellent way of maintaining health and keeping sickness and diseases at bay.  The speciality of this treatment is that it can be administered both in a healthy, as well as a ailing person.

 

Treatment Details:-

Vamana

Therapeutic vomiting or emesis therapy This therapy eliminates the diseases caused by excessive Kapha. Respiratory congestion, asthma, bronchitis, chronic cold, sinus psychiatric problems, and so forth are cured by Vamana.

Virechana

Therapeutic purgation therapy For diseases caused by excess pitta, Ayurveda has therapeutic purgation therapies. Acute and chronic problems of the skin like acne, pimples, allergies, rashes, eczema, psoriasis, inflammation of the skin, etc. can be cured. Moreover, Ayurveda also cures jaundice, infertility, spleen enlargement, obesity, arthritis, etc.

Niruha Basti and Anuvasana Basti

Medicated enema therapy Basti includes administration of herbal decoctions or medicated oil or ghee through the anal or rectum to cure disorders of Vata mainly motor neuron disorders, Parkinson’s disease, intervertebral discs prolapsed, hemiplegia, paraplegia, sexual disorders, constipation, kidney stones, backaches, joint pain, cardiac problems, etc.

Nasya

Elimination of toxins through the nose Nasya is the administration of medicines through the nose. Ayurveda calls the nose to be a doorway to the brain. It enhances the memory, activity, and functions of the brain. Through Nasya, mental maladies like depression, hypertension, migraine, headache, insomnia, and anxiety can be cured. It is also very effective for stiffness in the head, neck and shoulders, facial paralysis, problems of stammering, loss of speech, sinusitis, dental pain and locked jaw, epilepsy, etc.

Rejuvenation Treatments

Abhyanga: In this therapy, herbal oils are gently massaged into the body with specialized strokes and Marma point pressure.  This is not the regular type of massage! It is deeply relaxing, nurturing and nourishing, and very rejuvenating to all the tissues of the body.

Swedana: A specific herbal decoction is used in this therapy.  This is traditionally used after Abhyanga or any other oil massage to further detoxify the body.  The application of heat counteracts the cold qualities of Vata and Kapha, reduces the body’s stiffness and heaviness, as well as the slow, heavy, sticky qualities of toxins.

 

Marma Abhyanga

Marmas are intersections of the vital life force and prana, or breath. Marma massage involves a full-body soft flowing massage with warm herbal oil and stimulating the vital energy points on the body. It removes blockages in the flow of prana, revitalizes energy-giving physical and psychological relaxation and strength. Duration: 60 minutes Sweda (steam) 10 minutes.

Padabhyanga (Ayurveda foot massage)

It is both a relaxing and stimulating massage technique that treats the legs and feet from the knee joints down. The entire body, including the internal organs, can be accessed via the nerve endings on the feet. Padabhyanga is a gentle and sensitive foot massage with herbal oil or ghee using predominantly soft circular motions and stroking considering Marma points in that area. Padabhyanga is extremely calming and aids healthy sleep patterns. It has a very positive effect on the eyes. It can be used to alleviate stressful situations and produces a sense of well-being over the entire body. Duration: 20 minutes

Udvarthanam

Deep and dry massage with herbal powder and paste Udvarthanam is a massage that is known for having a stimulating effect on the subcutaneous tissues or fat. This massage breaks down cellulite and the layers of subcutaneous fat. This therapy is good for problems of obesity, high cholesterol, joint stiffness, and problems of the skin. It strengthens muscles and also refreshes the body. Duration: 45 minutes

Janu Basti

Like Katibasti, a wall is prepared but on the knee joint. Special medicated oil is kept in this wall to cure pain in the knee joint. It effectively treats osteoarthritis of the knee joints and prevents further articular damage. Duration: 30 minutes

Nabhi marma / Third chakra Basti

In Nabhi marma Basti, the warm medicated oil or herbal decoction is poured and made to retain over the naval region, solar plexus. It is also the site of the third chakra – Manipura chakra. The solar plexus controls many vital functions such as digestion, metabolism, adrenal secretion, and functions of the spleen, liver, pancreas, and intestines. Stimulation of the third chakra or Manipura chakra helps to maintain emotional balance, love, and self-esteem. Duration: 30 minutes

Elakizhi (Patra Pinda Sweda)

It is a leaf poultice massage, in which fresh eranda leaves are fried with other herbal ingredients, tied into boluses, dipped into warm medicated oil, and applied over the whole body or affected body part. The herbal bags are padded all over the body thus draining toxins and giving wonderful relief to muscular tension. It can also be applied after Abhyanga/oil massage. Indication: Chronic back pain, joint stiffness, muscular pain, sciatica, spondylosis, sprain, cramps, anti-aging, and rejuvenation. Duration: 30 minutes

Pizhichil

Pizhichil is a special form of Ayurvedic treatment that combines rich oil massage with special heat treatment. During this indulgent treatment, few liters of medicated and warmed Ayurvedic oil is continuously poured over the body while two practitioners rub and stimulate the skin using hands and special cotton cloths. The process is performed with the person both lying down and while sitting in a chair specially designed to apply medicated oils. This is a highly rejuvenating treatment that enhances muscular tone, retunes the entire nervous system, rejuvenates the skin, promotes relaxation, and inner balance. Recommended for: extremely high Vata dosha types, muscular aches, and pains, rheumatic problems, osteoarthritis, insomnia, depression. Duration: 30 minutes

Shirobhyanga (Ayurveda head massage)

This massage involves herbal oils with specialized gentle deep strokes and pressure on various Marma points over the head. This includes the entire head, neck, and shoulder massage. Herbal oils used in this massage balance Doshas. The massage helps to improve the function of the five senses and the nervous system. It improves blood circulation and helps detoxification. It reduces stress and depression and helps with sleeplessness and anxiety. Helps in relieving musculoskeletal tension. Gives deep relaxation and feeling of rejuvenation. It is done in combination with head herbal steam therapy and Ayurveda foot massage. Duration: 20 minutes

Mukha Abhyanga (Ayurvedic facial massage)

The classical method of facial massage is done by using herbalized creams/oils individualized according to body type. The massage component focuses on the Marma points of the face, neck, and shoulders which re-invigorates the tissues and refreshes the senses. It combines facial herbal steam therapy and application of herbal face mask according to body type and skin type. This is a relaxing and revitalizing therapy that improves the tone and luster of skin. The facial massage when done with head massage gives excellent results. Shirodhara

Shirodhara is a rhythmic flow of warm medicated milk/decoction/oil on the forehead. This treatment is profoundly relaxing and nourishing. It improves mental clarity and comprehension and is useful in the treatment of hypertension, diabetes, insomnia, memory loss, hormonal imbalance, headaches, certain skin diseases, and stress-related disorders. The benefits of Shirodhara are greatly enhanced after a massage or Abhyanga when the body is already relaxed and in a receptive state.

Kati Basti (Low back therapy)

This is a specialized therapy for relieving and nourishing the lower back using herbal oils or ghee. After a gentle pleating massage on the lower back, specially prepared warm herbal oil is poured over the lumbosacral area and retained inside a dam made out of dough. This treatment considerably increases the circulation in the region. The herbal oil gets deeply absorbed into the skin and nourishes and strengthens the bones, muscles, and nerves. It pacifies Vata, relieving pain, soreness, and tension and restoring flexibility. Indicated for lower back pain, stiffness, herniated disc, disc prolapse, and degenerative problems.

Greeva Basti

In Greeva Basti, medicated oil is used to bathe the cervical region at the back of the neck. The process is simi¬lar to Kati Basti. This treatment helps to treat cervical Spondylitis, relieves chronic pain, and stiffness in the neck region, and strengthens the neck muscles, thereby facilitating proper mobility.
Duration: 30 minutes

Hridaya Basti

Hridaya basti is the treatment where specially prepared warm medicated oil (Dhanwantharm oil) is poured over the chest wall in a container of black gram dough built around the chest area and retained inside for 30 to 45 minutes. This form of external basti particularly benefits muscle and rigidity of the chest wall and strengthens the bone tissue in that area. Also strengthens heart muscles. This is an effective treatment for asthma, other respiratory problems such as bronchiectasis, and muscular chest pain. Duration: 30 minutes

Navarkhizi

This treatment includes a special Panchkarma technique where boluses of a special variety of rice (shashtishali) cooked in milk and herbal decoctions are massaged. It is beneficial for curing disorders of muscles like muscular dystrophies, atrophies, motor neuron diseases, hemiplegia and the nervous system. Duration: 30 minutes
